COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS PROGRAM
As of September 2014, the State of Ohio has enacted the college Credit Plus Program. This new program replaces the Post Secondary Enrollment Option Program. The college Credit Plus Program enables high school students to obtain college or high school credit (or both) from an institution of higher learning during their freshman through senior years.
Basically, there are two options available. First, one may choose college credit only. Under this option, parents must assume all costs involved. This option has been available to our students for the past several years.
Secondly, one may choose enrollment in a college course that would be taken for high school credit and would also count toward high school graduation. If the student completes this course, there would be no cost except perhaps for transportation. Also, if the student should choose to enroll in the college where the course is taken that college will grant college credit for the course.
There are several guidelines that cover this topic. If you have any interest in participating in this program, it is necessary to meet with your guidance counselor to review the application process. Your commitment that you intend to participate in this program must be made by May 1st.
